Rust- How to build a cave base

Cave bases are possibly the best bases to build in Rust. They are EXTREMELY easy to defend, because they are naturally fortified, leaving only one way in. In this video I will show you how to build a cave base using very little resources.

To find a cave, you will need to start by going to the website: playrust.io. Once you get to the website, you will search the name of the server you play on. Then, click that server, wait for the map to generate, and locate yourself and the cave you want to build in.

The first structure you will build inside the cave base will be the bottom structure, or store room. You will start this by placing two square foundation pieces going sideways across the cave, followed by a triangular foundation piece going into the side of the cave wall. Follow this recipe until you reach the back of the cave. You will then need to place walls on some of the foundation pieces. This way, you will be able to build a second floor. Place a ladder hatch so that you will be able to travel between floors. Then place your finishing walls, doors, and floors.

Next you will move to the front of the cave to place the entrance. Your cave base entrance needs to be fortified, yet discreet. So, when standing in front of the cave, you will place a square foundation piece right in the middle of the entrance. Then place another square foundation piece right behind it, followed by triangular foundation pieces to square it off inside the wall. Now place wall pieces going two stories high and floor pieces to make the ceiling, making sure you leave no gaps. Then go around to the side of the cave on the outside. You will need to either close off or build an entrance here. You will need to place a square foundation piece right in the middle of it as low into the ground as possible. Place one door at the front and one door at the back, followed by two walls and a floor for a ceiling.

The next step in building a cave base, is building your store room. This will be done by finding the rock directly in front of the cave entrance. You will place a square foundation directly in front of this rock. Next, you will place two more square foundation pieces heading towards the base entrance, followed by two more square foundations going to the left of the entrance. Then to the right, place triangular foundations going towards your first piece until you square this section off. Next, place your walls and doors heading towards the back of the cave. Place a second floor, with a ladder hatch dividing the floors. Then, on the second floor, you will need to build a wall and another door dividing the second entrance from the rest of your cave base. This is the section I call the "Work Room".

Your last section you will build is going to be directly below the "Work Room". You will start by making sure that your square foundation piece lines up with the foundation of the "Work Room" so that you leave no gaps. Then you will place one triangular foundation piece going to the left of that. Then build this section two stories tall and place your walls and doors.

There you have it. That is how you build a cave base in Rust. The only thing you have left to do now is upgrade the materials and doors, and place your ladders.
