Song name: Alea Jacta Est
Performed by Mermicolión
Mermicolión is the project of four young men from Madrid, Spain, looking to gain a foothold in the world of street entertainment. The group intends to renew old animations and shows full of life and joy, flooding the streets with music of epic times. Their shows feature songs sung with the backing of a variety of ancient instruments and care and varied wardrobe with experience of 10 years working in medieval markets. This is the first video clip/song with new singer Maria Galdon. Alea iacta est (The die is cast) is a Latin phrase attributed by Suetonius to Julius Caesar on January 10, 49 BC as he led his army across the River Rubicon in Northern Italy. With this step, he entered Italy at the head of his army in defiance of the Senate and began his long civil war against Pompey and the Optimates. The phrase is still used today in Italy to mean that events have passed a point of no return, that something inevitably will happen.

Part of the melody is taken from Cantiga (CSM) 77 - Da que Deus mamou - Paralysed woman is healed:
"A woman was almost entirely paralyzed. Her limbs were shriveled and twisted, and no medicine could cure her. She was carried on a litter to the Church of the Virgin in Lugo and kept vigil there. On the Virgin's feast in August, Mary straightened her limbs. Each of her limbs made a loud cracking sound as the shrunken tendons stretched. The bishop and the people who witnessed her healing wept and gave thanks to the Virgin..."
