In this video, Trevor Sullivan explores an open source note-taking application called Joplin. Joplin works on major desktop operating systems, including Linux, MacOS, and Windows, along with Android and iOS mobile devices. One of the best features of Joplin is the ability to synchronize notes data using cloud object storage, or alternative data storage backends, including Dropbox, OneDrive, Joplin Cloud, and others. For data privacy and security, Joplin supports using encryption keys to encrypt data before it is synchronized with cloud storage.

Joplin uses the familiar Markdown syntax to apply formatting to notes. Most developers should be familiar with Markdown syntax, as it is widely used on other platforms, such as GitHub, GitLab, and many more.
