eScriptorium for Handwritten Text Recognition in Humanities Research

eScriptorium is a deep-learning software for handwritten text recognition and part of the RESILIENCE suite of research-enhancing services. This demonstration by Peter Stokes (research professor at École Pratique des Hautes Études) was part of the webinar “60 Minutes of DH: eScriptorium for Handwritten Text Recognition in Humanities Research” on January 26, 2021.
The webinar was hosted by the DH Lab of the Leibniz Institute of European History (IEG). Peter Stokes’ demonstration of eScriptorium was followed by a Q&A hosted by Monika Barget (IEG). Questions were answered by Peter Stokes and his colleagues Daniel Stoekl Ben Ezra (EPHE) and Robin Tissot (EPHE).
