How it works :
Using Cream API, you're able to run a Non-Steam copy of Fall of Cybertron in a wrapper, masking it as "Spacewar". Due to running the game through Steam without any emulation (such as with Goldberg), you're able to connect to Steam's services and take full advantage of FoC's Steamworks integration, meaning you're able to see names and see people on your friends list in-game now. However, there are a few caveats to this. Due to the way FoC's invite and friends list system works, you're unable to have others accept invites. Invites are entirely handled in-game and are dependent on FoC itself detecting you or your friends as being in the game. With this method, FoC sees you or your friends using this method as playing "Spacewar" and therefore not in-game on FoC, making it so the "Accept Invite" button never shows up even after receiving one (or multiple). As of the writing of this description, connectivity between 2 players using this method has not been tested so there may be a very slim possibility that you're able to invite and join between players using this method. But I did test connectivity and invites between a Steam user and this method and it did not work unless the Steam account hosted and sent out invites to everyone individually. This method is being used due to the game's delisting on every storefront as a way to let new and returning players enjoy the games as close as possible to their original state and while not flawless, is a step in the right direction.
Frequently Asked Questions :
Q. Do I need Goldberg installed for this to work?
A. No. Goldberg is completely unnecessary when using this method but it also didn't cause any issues from my testing.
Q. Will this let me play Private Matches on a Non-Steam copy?
A. As of now, no, but with an exception. If you have a Steam user who can host, they can invite you and your friends into their lobby and play Private Matches with no issues. However, you'll be unable to host and send out invites yourself, it'll just give an "Join Game Failed" to anyone who attempts to join.
Q. Where are the rest of the game install steps?
A. This guide assumes you've already installed the game, have a fully working copy available, and have followed the Fall of Cybertron installation guide over in the Warehouse discord. This is not a game install guide.
Q. My game is stuck saying "LOADING..." and won't work. What do I do?
A. This is caused by a bad "TFOC.exe". The one I've included in my download links is a confirmed good .exe, however it hasn't been fully consistent after multiple file extractions with some people. In case this happens, you'll need to find a cracked .exe and replace the one that came in the files provided. Do note that using a vanilla Steam .exe will NOT WORK.
