Igor Zhukov Plays Tchaikovsky Concerto No. 2 for Piano and Orchestra (1969).
Описание
Igor Zhukov (1936-2018) was an accomplished Russian pianist, conductor, and sound engineer. He was a student of the renowned Emil Gilels. His career was largely in the USSR/Russia and he did not show great interest in traveling abroad. An exception was in 1960 when he traveled to Paris where he placed second in the Long-Thibaud Piano Competition. He was particularly known for his interpretations of Scribian. Zhukov said of himself - "I am the best sound engineer among pianists, and the best pianist among sound engineers!" He left behind a substantial discography which is mostly on Soviet/Russian labels.
A note on this particular LP. For some reason - this pristine looking album had the most pops and clicks of any album I have transferred to date. No amount of physical cleaning would remove them. Fortunately the underlying music was very well recorded. Thus there may be a few artifacts from the digital cleaning, although I was pleasantly surprised that with two passes of click removal in different programs, that the recording was rendered listenable again.
