How effective is an SDR panadapter?

This video demonstrates most of all you can do with an external SDR connected to your radio. You can have a great panadapter with waterfall and spectrum analyzer, you can have many notch filters, you can click a signal on the waterfall and change the frequency on your radio, and much more.
The audio you listen to is from HDSDR powered by and RSP1 (12 bits ADC, 10 MHz bandwidth). The transceiver connected via CAT to HDSDR is an FT-450D by Yaesu. But you can do the same with your favorite radio.
Please note, during the video, how fast and effective are the digital filters in filtering the demodulated signal.
And also even note how detailed (high resolution) the waterfall and the spectrum analyzer: can you have the same on the small display of your radio?
