This game was the sequel to Elevator Action which was released in 1983 by Taito. It is a more elaborate game than the original game, and it had much better graphics. Other than that, the game mechanics were the same. It was ported to the Xbox, Playstation 2, Sega Saturn, and Windows. The ported versions were as good as the arcade version.

Arcades started to diminish around 1996, because console game systems were as good as the arcade machines in terms of graphics and game play. Around December of 1994, the Sony Playstation 1 was released which was a 32 bit video console game system, and it became pretty mainstream around that time. You also had the release of the Sega Saturn which was released one month earlier than the PS-1. In addition to that, you had 32 bit operating systems, like Windows 95 coming into the PC market around August 1995. All these technological innovations spelled the beginning of the end of arcades around 1995 and 1996.

32 bit console systems of that time were a bit rough around the edges, because 3d acceleration technology was pretty much non existent at that time. 3d acceleration technology came into fruition around the middle of 1996 with the release of the Nintendo 64 console system, and also with the release of the Voodoo 3dfx graphics accelerator around the same time. Arcade did exist up to 1998, but the reason why people went to arcade up to that point was due to the fact there was broadband internet. People would go to the arcades to play against other people in fighting games, like Tekken, Virtua Fighter, etc. Today, there are hardly any arcades left, because people would play head to head against other players via the internet. People don't have to leave their living rooms or desks to play against other people. Just shopping has changed throughout the years, you can shop online and have it all delivered to your door step in a couple of days.

In addition, computer and video game console technology pretty much reached it peak developmental potential. As a result, we don't have to go to the arcade to play games. Besides if there were arcades, it should cost roughly $1.00 to $1.25 to play a game there due to inflation. We can say the same about shopping at a brick and mortar store, it costs much more to shop there compared to buying it online or on Amazon.com. It costs time and money to go shopping as well, you need to pay for the cost of energy to get there, and you need to shop around at other stores to find the best prices. It just shows how technology has made life more convenient for everyone. It also cut down the cost of living as well.
