Описание

Mysh marsh for String Orchestra (found in String Riffs Singles)
(Mouse March - pronunciation: myoosh marsch)
Burly mice in warm fur hats stomp with deliberate steps through the Mysh Marsh (Russian Mouse March). Violas and cellos move between divisi, pizzicato and arco in the key of D minor with plenty of dynamic contrast. Upper and lower strings pass the melody back and forth, keeping those serious rodents moving along with counter-rhythms and dramatic crescendos. (2.00).

String Riffs: Fun Music for Young Musicians

We offer original music for strings ranging from elementary school beginners to high school players. Repertoire is thoroughly tested in the classroom, and most pieces are supplemented with invaluable concept maps providing unique shortcuts for lesson planning.

Entertaining tunes like “Fiddle Me Home,” “Chihuahua Crossing,” “Prickly Pear Pizzicato,” Enchi-chilada" and “Arizona Rodeo” combine Southwestern charm with techniques carefully designed to improve specific skills.

Related pieces of varying difficulty -- "The Pirate's Awakening" and "The Pirate's Lair," or "Spicy Tacos!" and "Jalapeño Poppers!" -- can be played separately or together, offering the opportunity to combine musicians of different levels into one ensemble.

Students, teachers and audiences alike will find something to enjoy in every sparkling piece, and lower strings receive equal attention thanks to the composer’s background as a cellist.

These versatile compositions adapt easily to teacher preferences in articulation, rhythms, tempos, and key signatures as integral building blocks in the string classroom, offering differentiated instruction aligned to state and federal music education standards.

String Riffs spotlights the engaging music of composer Karen Koger, an experienced professional educator and performer. As a lifelong musician, Koger taught private cello lessons for more than two decades and currently instructs fourth-, fifth-, and sixth-grade students in Arizona’s Mesa Public School system, maintaining a long relationship with the American String Teacher Association. She also actively plays in chamber, orchestral, studio, instructional, and theatrical ensembles.
