Tonight I take a walk through Shinjuku in Tokyo. More specifically the Kabukicho area of Shinjuku which is known for it's vibrant nightlife and colorful neon lights.
The city pretty much never sleeps here, you could spend the whole night talking to all sorts of people such as down on their luck kids all the way to rich influencers passing through Japan.
While Japan is generally safe, this place has become a safe haven for individuals who need help and demonstrates that even in Japan people face hardships. A large amount of these people that need help are known as toyoko kids (トー横キッズ) maybe because yoko means "side" so kids next to the Toho cinema in Shinjuku have been named that.
Join me for a walk through Kabukicho as I take a few photographs and learn a few things while enjoying street photography at night with my Nikon Z6 and Nikkor Z 50mm f1/8.
