Professor McPhee from the University of Waterloo, Canada and his research group have worked on several projects that require the use of full-chassis vehicle models from ADAMS/Car. As heavy users of this tool, they have been challenged by two major issues:

The addition of multi-domain subsystems to ADAMS/Car models can only be achieved through co-simulation, which is cumbersome and computationally expensive.

It is not possible to implement ADAMS/Car models in real-time applications. Users are faced with the only option of transferring parameters and response data as lookups to "black-box" simulators.
In this webinar, Professor McPhee's team and Maplesoft will present a work-flow they are developing to address these issues by allowing seamless, traceable transfer of ADAMS/Car data to configure a MapleSim multibody chassis model that is topologically equivalent to the ADAMS/Car model. This allows them to add detailed multidomain systems -- engines, transmissions, electric drives, batteries etc -- to the vehicle model for system-level parametric studies and optimizations. Not only that, the model leverages the symbolic power of MapleSim to allow highly optimized C-code to be generated, which is particularly well-suited for real-time hardware-in-the-loop applications.

If you are an ADAMS/Car user facing these challenges, this topic should be of particular interest.
