Antes de empezar con esta lista de cosas que hacer en Medellín, una pequeña mención al tema recurrente: la seguridad. El nivel de seguridad de las grandes ciudades colombianas está todavía lejos del de las europeas y esto es algo que hay que tener muy presente. Sin embargo, no hay que volverse paranoico con el tema.

Si te mueves por los sitios turísticos de día, lo normal es que no tengas problemas y no tengas una sensación de peligro. Al menos yo no la he tenido nunca. Otra cosa es si te pierdes por barrios que no conoces y si es de noche por rutas prohibidas, ten cuidado.

De noche hay que adoptar ciertas medidas de seguridad como evitar caminar por la calle, y moverse de puerta a puerta con taxi llamado o reservado por internet. Otra cosa es si te mueves por zonas como el Parque Lleras y el Poblado en general. El barrio es seguro incluso de noche.

Si has hecho un free tour acabarás el mismo en la Plaza Botero, dedicada a este genial artista colombiano, originario de Medellín, cuyas orondas estatuas están por medio mundo y, por supuesto, en su ciudad natal.
Visitar la Plaza Botero es una de las cosas imprescindibles que hacer en Medellín. En pleno centro de la ciudad, te encontrarás con 23 obras del artista diseminadas por aquí y por allá en un espacio de más de 7.000 metros cuadrados. Podrás sentarte a contemplarlas rodeado también de zonas ajardinadas.

Continuamos caminando hacia la plazuela de la Veracruz en dirección a la carrera 53 por la calle 51, encontraras comercio y entretenimiento.
