ABSTRACT: In the last 30 days 6,603 commits and 797 pull requests have been merged into the GitHub.com Rails app. That's 7,496 additions and 8,285 deletions across 4,118 files. This doesn't even include the work being done in separate libraries and applications. From educating developers, to running our own bug bounty program, to integrating static analysis into CI, this talk will discuss how the GitHub security team manages a high volume of change in a culture where friction and bloated processes are anathema.
BIO: Ben Toews is an application security engineer at GitHub. He works on security features in addition to identifying and fixing security vulnerabilities in GitHub.com. Prior to GitHub, Ben worked in software development as well as in security consulting, performing application and network pentests.
