Video Summary:
Clopidogrel is an antiplatelet drug used to prevent thromboembolic events. Its activation depends on CYP2C19 enzyme. Omeprazole inhibits this enzyme and interfere with activation of clopidogrel. So its antiplatelet effect is reduced leading to increased risk of cardiovascular events. Thus its better to avoid omeprazole and prefer pantoprazole or rabeprazole if the patient is on clopidogrel.
