EcoStruxure Machine Expert Training - M8.3 Cloning application using controller assistant

Explanation how to clone an application with user right into another PLC (same reference model) using the Controller Assistant to store the image of the PLC into your laptop and then download it into a new controller.

We have two ways to download the image to a new controller:
“Write on…” using an ethernet cable or usb cable connection to download the complete image.
“Write to…” using a SD card to download the image BUT without the User rights.

The software to program the Modicon M241, M251, M258, M262 and PacDrive MotionController is EcoStruxure Machine Expert (former SoMachine / SoMachine Motion).

For the Modicon M258 the version required to use the software is the EcoStruxure Machine Expert v1.2.x.
The version of EcoStruxure Machine Expert v2.x does not include the M258 in the hardware list.

In order to install this software you need to download "Schneider Electric Software Installer" from the next link:

Then you should be able to install EcoStruxure Machine Expert.
The software EcoStruxure Machine Expert has a Free version after the 42 days trial, please check pages 14 and 16 for more information for the free version limitations:

The user that wants to use this software needs to have an account in our License Portal in order to register the software:

In the past the software was SoMachine and the latest version of this software was the SoMachine V4.3 SP2.
The reference for SoMachine is the SOMNACS43:

The firmware version of the Modicon M241, M251 and M258 for PLC programmed in SoMachine starts in v4.x.x.x and in Machine expert it starts in v5.x.x.x.

In order to program the Modicon M241, M251, M258, M262 you can use a miniUSB cable (TCSXCNAMUM3P or BMXXCAUSBH018) , SD Card (not M258 this one use pen drive) or an ethernet cable (depend on the version).
