Fernando Sor (1778-1839): Fantasy op.40 on the popular Scottish Air "Ye banks and braes, o' bonnie Doon". One of most played fantasies by Fernando Sor consists of an introduction, theme, three brilliant variations and a short but effective coda, all in the regal tonality of D Major with scordatura. The song lyrics of the original song are by celebrated Scottish poet Robert Burns and tells about a sad love story of a girl seducted by a rich lord but then suddenly abandoned by him. After her death, the Court declared the Lord had to pay and to provide for the child born from the relation. Live perfomance in Ponzano Romano, February 2016.
