This walkthrough (for the USB Oscilloscope: OWON-VDS1022I) is based on Ubuntu, but would probably work mostly the same on and Debian based Linux. Gotta Love Linux.

Note, the OWON-VDS1022 (no I) will also work, it just doesn't have the isolated USB connection, so that's a bit scary for your PC. Or Laptop.
