How to convert UART to RS485 with MAX485?

Testing out a simple concept of converting existing UART connections to RS485, for improved distance and noise immunity.

READ THE PINNED COMMENT BY GRAHAM! My design is missing a ground wire. Two nodes need to have common ground one way or the other, to limit common mode voltage on the inputs. Ground wire between two nodes could also cause problems in form of ground loop. Isolating the UART side (All four wires) and adding a common ground wire between two nodes would solve many problems.
Each solution has it's advantages and disadvantages. This may be a cheap and well working module for some applications, but definitely not for all the possible scenarios. I'm willing to admit that this project wasn't 100% success. Live and learn.
