1964 CHEVY IMPALA SS HARDTOP -- FROM A TRIM PACKAGE TO A SERIES
Описание
The Super Sport model used to be a trim package that one could update from the Impala. In '64, the Super Sport now became a Chevy series. Squared up styling marked the sixty fours. And it was a good year for full size Chevys for 1.6 million Biscaynes, Bel Airs, Impalas and the SS were built this year. Super Sports came with the unique SS badges, trim, and wheelcovers. About this time when the car stereo was gaining in popularity, a new gadget called a " cartridge tape player " became available. Incredibly enough, six cylinder engines were available for the Chevy the Super Sport. But there were a selections of V8's. There is the 283 cid with 195 to 220 hp., or the solid 327 which offered 250 to 300 hp., or the great 409 cid, 340 - 425 hp. A Super Sport like this would cost around $2,947. What I like about the '64 Chevy SS is the bucket seats with the suave console between them, the hardtop roof that resembles a convertible top, the machine-turned side trim, the distinct wheelcovers, and the 3 taillights that immediate identifies this Chevy as a top-tier model. Enjoy this first year Super Sport series edition and thanks very much for viewing the 1964 Chevy Impala SS hardtop.
