The Roland JV-90 Expandable Synthesizer allows you to create a wide variety of sonic textures by digitally manipulating the high-quality on-board sounds. By installing an optional Voice Expansion Board, you can increase the number of sounds available and the instrument's maximum polyphony. When fully expanded, the JV-90 is a versatile instrument that can be used for live performances, studio recordings and desk-top music applications.
The Patch Play mode allows you to control different sounds m real-time, and the Performance Play mode allows you to spontaneously control 8 Parts and MIDI channels. In addition, a number of Key Modes can enhance any performance. If an optional Voice Expansion Board is installed, 28 voices and more sounds (Parts) are added to the 28 voices
already provided by the JV-90.
Not only will you find basic waveforms (sawtooth, square wave, pulse waves etc.), but a wide variety of unusual waveforms are provided as well. By modifying these waveforms with FXM (Frequency Cross Modulation), even more sophisticated sounds can be achieved. And by using optional PCM cards or Wave Expansion Boards, new waveforms can be added.
The JV-90's sliders and optional footswitches and pedals can be used to change the instrument's parameters in
realtime. The JV-90's 76-note keyboard features Velocity sensitivity and Aftertouch sensitivity; two
features which enhance any performance.
