If you downloaded the mod as a zip file, open the zip file and locate the GAME folder (note the all CAPS). When doing a clean/fresh/new install of the mod, be sure you download the “Full” version and not the “Patch” version. The "Patch" versions are only for people who have the previous version of the mod installed.
Find where you installed Galactic Battlegrounds to:
- If you got the game on Steam, it will probably be located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\STAR WARS - Galactic Battlegrounds Saga\
- If you got the game from GOG, it will probably be located at C:\GOG Games\STAR WARS - Galactic Battlegrounds Saga\
- If you are using the original CD installation, it will probably be located at C:\Program Files (x86)\LucasArts\Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds\

( ! ) Ensure that you do not already have any other mods installed that would interfere with Expanding Fronts, such as the "All In One Patch". If so, please reinstall Galactic Battlegrounds so that you have a clean/fresh/new installation of the game. We do not offer support for other mods, so use them at your own risk and please don't trouble us with your issues when you do so.

! ) If your Windows user account does not have full permissions to write files in Program Files, then install Galactic Battlegrounds someplace where a non-elevated user can write to before installing the mod.

The next step is to merge the GAME folder with the Game folder located at your Galactic Battlegrounds installation folder. To be clear, you want all of the contents inside the GAME folder to go inside the Game folder. DO NOT put the GAME folder itself inside the Game folder! The easiest way to merge the folders is to drag-drop the GAME folder into the Galactic Battlegrounds folder like so:

Run battlegrounds_x2.exe to start the mod. On the first time you run the mod, a "First Run" process will begin to convert the original game's assets over to the new color palette for Expanding Fronts. If you experience any issues or errors with getting the game to run, or to display correctly, please look over our troubleshooting FAQ for some solutions.

If you are launching the game from Steam, it will launch battlegrounds_x1.exe, which is Clone Campaigns, not Expanding Fronts. You can add Expanding Fronts to Steam as a non-steam game with these steps: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2219-YDJV-5557

Next. you should set up widescreen with the Configurator tool. Open the configurator.exe file in your Game folder. When launching the configurator, there are options to set your desired resolution, windowed mode, and more.


We also highly recommend that you use windowed mode. Full screen mode can have some issues. You can mimic full screen mode by using your monitor's highest resolution in windowed mode. Note that the main menu does not change resolution. The resolution changes once you enter a game match or the scenario editor. You may also want to ensure that the in-game resolution is set to the highest available setting for the resolution patch to work correctly. If you want to lock your cursor to your window in windowed mode, then set UseCursorClip=1 in your wndmode.ini file within the Game directory. You should also set your in-game resolution in options to the highest available one.
