Change VLC Player Icons

If you don't like the original VLC Player icons and want to replace them, you can do that pretty easily.

1) Download the tool Resource Hacker. You can find it here: http://www.angusj.com/resourcehacker/
2) Download or create the icon file, you want to see instead of the original VLC player icon
If you want to create your own icon files, go to http://icoconvert.com/

3) Now install Resource Hacker and start the tool
Click on the "Open" Icon or "File Open"
4) Open vlc.exe in the main vlc player directory. normally it's located in \Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC
5) Select Icon Group
Right-Klick on the icon and chose "Replace Icon"
6) Now Chose the Icon, you want to see instead of the normal VLC Player icon (Open file with new Icon)
7) Confirm with Replace on the right side
8) Save the edited vlc.exe file as a new file in another folder (for example on your desktop)
9) Copy the new vlc.exe file and replace the original one in the main VLC folder (\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC)
10) Do the same (steps 4-9) for the vlc-cache-gen.exe file. it's located in the main VLC folder as well
11) And you are done
12) Have fun and enjoy the new icons

If the icons don't change immediately, don't panic. some systems need a reboot, sometimes it helps to right-klick on the two edited files and select properties. If the icons still haven't changed yet, just select another player and change back to vlc. If there is still the original icon, your system seems to want a reboot
