SONY FX30 - Test Footage - CATALYST BROWSE STABILIZATION - Side By Side - CINEMATIC VIDEO S-CINETONE

Hey guys, in this video I test out Sony’s Catalyst Browse to stabilize footage using gyro data. This is my first test using the program, and after some research other filmmakers recommended setting your shutter speed to 1/500 when filming in 60fps. Supposedly, this helps the footage looks more smooth after the program stabilizes it. Though it’s time consuming, this could be a good option instead of using a gimbal, IBIS, Standard or Active Stabilization. This free version also degrades the quality of your video because it crops in a lot. I think you have to purchase Catalyst Prepare if you want to maintain the quality. You also can change the amount of cropping that takes place. I personally will most likely keep shooting the way I usually do, handheld with active stabilization turned on. I’m curious to hear what you think of this, and if it’s something you’ll try for cinematic video. Enjoy!
