The most iconic museum in Paris.

'Water Lilies' by Claude Monet, 'Gabrielle and Jean' by Pierre-Auguste Renoir, 'The Young Apprentice' by Amedeo Modigliani, and 'Pommes et biscuits' by Paul Cézanne, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Henri Rousseau, and others.

In 1922, Monet donated eight Water Lilies murals, his most famous works and one of the most priceless works of art.

“The illusion of an endless whole, of water without horizon or bank,” Monet.

In 1893, Monet purchased land with a pond near Giverny “for the pleasure of the eye and motifs to paint.” The result was his water-lily garden.

The Water Lilies (Nymphéas), Claude Monet’s most comprehensive series, consists of 250 oil paintings accomplished over 12 years. During this period, Monet suffered from cataracts and was almost blind.

In 2011, one of Claude Monet’s water lily paintings sold for $43.7m (£27m) at a New York auction.

Musée de l’Orangerie, an impressionist and post-Impressionist paintings gallery built-in 1852 by Napoleon III, was set as a space for living artists to display their works in 1921.
