I wanted to measure the transmit frequency of my HB100 Doppler radar modules. Unfortunately I don’t have a 10GHz scope or spectrum analyzer. But I still had that Berkeley Nucleonics Model 865 microwave signal generator in the lab.

And so I measured the HB100’s oscillator frequency by feeding a microwave signal of a known frequency into its receive patch antenna, using its own frequency mixer to measure the frequency difference between that signal and its oscillator.
