A day in the life of the city of Sverdlovsk, 1956

Here I present an album of photographs of the city of Sverdlovsk, now once again called Yekaterinburg.
The city was founded in 1723 and named after the wife of Tsar Peter the Great. The city was one of Russia's first industrial centres.
Following the Revolution, the former Emperor Nicholas II and the Imperial Family were sent here and lived out their final days in the Ipatiev House located in the city. The Bolsheviks executed them in July 1918.....
