The copy I have played is the GOG release so any changes made with the Steam release is not present, including GameSpy's dead servers. Also a 4:3 video in 2020, yes.
Regarding what was done to record this, I used OBS and played the game through windowed mode with a 1280x960 resolution. The Direct3D renderer to record since OpenGL 1.X is not friendly with me and especially with AMD hardware. Lens flares have to be disabled since for some reason performance drops hard when they are enabled on Windows 10 systems. I also apologize if there is any stuttering or bad framerate drops since given how old this game is, that is unfortunately hard to avoid at times.
This is the original game completed on Serious difficulty with all secrets found. This continuous playthrough is segmented between each level, so each level was done from start to finish without dying. That also means no quicksaving in the middle of levels or retrying certain sections. If I die, I redo the whole level, including long levels such as Metropolis and Karnak. In-game cutscenes are also not skipped so there's that too.
I also try to get max kills possible on each level, but there are some exceptions to this. Those include:
1) No out-of-bound monsters. I know someone will point out that I didn't kill them, but I never planned to anyways.
2) Moon Mountain monsters that have not died in bottomless pits are ignored here. I assume two Kleers at the floating islands did not died in the abyss and one Werebull fell down the circular waterfall hole. So that makes three kills missing.
3) No skipping portions of the game to get around spawns that can deactivate. Why yes, that includes the infamous raising pillar secret of the Sacred Yards.
4) No waiting 27 hours for two Minor Biomechs in Dunes. Self-explanatory.
Another goal was to get below the par time for all levels, exceptions being the first level and Dunes, it is very difficult to get below the par times for both levels while also grabbing all the secrets. I should mention in-game cutscenes besides the last one in a level count as game time so I did take note of that.
Q: Why did the Tommygun and Lasergun shoot slower than it should? How did it shoot like normal after the Metropolis town section?
A: There is a bug in classic Serious Sam where after 4096 seconds of game time, anything that shoots at 600RPM slows down badly. This includes the Tommygun, Lasergun, Flamethrower, and even the Minor Biomechs. After another 4096 seconds of game time, the bug "fixes" itself. The bug and the "fix" can happen in the middle of a level.
Q: Why did you rocket jump in the last arena in Karnak?
A: One Marsh Hopper does not hop in the previous arena for some reason, for a while I have no idea where the 1127th kill was! Using noclip helped me found it and finally get all possible kills.
Q: Why did you shoot yourself for that one health pickup at Luxor?
A: You need to actually pick up the health item in order to spawn Werebulls and have the ceiling lower. Just walking over it will not work.
Q: Why didn't you get 355 kills in Sacred Yards?
A: I have no idea why the spawns for picking up the sphinx were deactivated when I blew up the raising platform, so that's 4 more missing kills unfortunately.
Q: Why did your high score changed at The Great Pyramid?
A: In my first run, I unknowingly deactivated the Minor Biomech spawns in the starting arena, therefore missed two kills. I also got over the par time there, so it was a bad run.
Q: Why do you hurt yourself like a moron?
A: Serious trigger fingers. Or well, just some really dumb mistakes, they happen.
