Volkswagen of American is bidding farewell to the Passat, as the Chattanooga, Tennessee-built sedan will sing its swan song with the 2022 model year. To celebrate the history of the car, VW will see it out with a 2022 Passat Limited Edition. The family sedan was the first vehicle built at Volkswagen’s Chattanooga plant, part of the automaker’s reentry into American manufacturing. To celebrate the car’s special significance for the brand, the run of special vehicles has been designed to celebrate its history. The total number of Passat Limited Editions (1,973) is designed to celebrate the first year the Passat entered production in Germany. Of those, 411 are being finished in Aurora Red Metallic with a Titan Black interior. That number honors that original vehicle’s production code.
