Android Device manager is an Android app by Google that allows you to find your android smartphone, in case you forgot it somewhere or can't remember where you put it.

All you need to do is download Android Device Manager from the Google Play Store. Once you download and install Android Device Manager on your Android smartphone, simply visit www.google.com/android/devicemanager and log in using to the same Google account that you use on your android phone.

Once logged in, if location access on your phone is toggled on, Android device manager (find my phone google) will pinpoint the exact location of your android smartphone on the map (using Google maps).

Even if location access is toggled off on your phone, Android Device Manager (find my phone google), can still help you find your android phone, or protect your important private data in case it was stolen.

Android Device Manager (or "find my phone Google") can make your android phone ring at full volume for five minutes in order to allow you to locate it.

You can even lock your phone and change the password remotely and replace your current lock screen with a password. You can also provide an optional recovery message that will show on your lock screen. You can also provide a phone number that will show on your lock screen with a button to call this number(if you believe in good Samaritans, i guess).

Most importantly, in case your phone was stolen, Android Device Manager (find my phone google) can perform a remote factory reset.

By performing a factory reset remotely you will be able to delete all your personal data from your android phone, including images, music and app. Be careful though, since the delete is permanent and if someone gains access to your Google account, he or she could remotely delete all your data.

Android Device Manager (find my phone google) however may not be able the content of the SD card in your phone.

If your device is offline Android Device Manager (find my phone google) will perform the remote factory reset once the phone goes back online.
