Today we're visiting arguably one of the most important albums in Hip Hop history - MF DOOM's debut album, originally released in 1999, "Operation: Doomsday". After multiple unfortunate events, Zev Love X disappeared from the music scene for many years until he, in 1997, released a 12" single on Fondle 'Em Records (featured earlier in the vault). Two years after this, he would have released two additional singles, after which he released this album and shook the then already revolutionizing hip hop scene to it's core. This album is truly fantastic with absolutely no skips; DOOM flexes his great & refined production skills combined with his lyrical ones, and brings on some fantastic features along the ride. This is the double LP 2016 reissue on Metal Face Record, which sound great and brings a whole new sound to the record. (I’m of course hunting for that legendary OG Fondle ‘Em though - if I find it it’ll be ripped & uploaded to the vault right away!)

« My Ripping Process »
The audio in this video is taken straight from the raw recording; no audio manipulation such as EQ-ing or declicking done whatsoever.
Prior to ripping, the record is dry-cleaned with a carbon fiber brush to remove surface dust. Record is then played through and recorded with a Zoom H1n, directly plugged into my passive preamp, in uncompressed .wav (24bit 96khz). Both video and audio is then transferred to my PC, where I edit them together as well as add graphics using Vegas Pro. The audio remains completely unaltered here apart from being peak-normalized to reach an optimal level. The video is then rendered at 4K with a compressed stream of audio. Before uploading, the resulting rendered video is muxed together with an uncompressed .wav (24bit 96khz) of the video's audio using MKVToolNix, resulting in completely unharmed, uncompressed audio prior to being uploaded to YouTube. In other words - this is as pure as it can get! :)
