Carl Filtsch: Romance sans paroles

I was 15 when I first heard the music of Carl Filtsch and was imediatly taken by it's beauty. At first I didn't trust my eyes when I saw his birth and death dates: 1830-1845, meaning that he was only 15 when hie died. According to Wikipedia and co., Filtsch spend most of his short life traveling through Europe with his older brother and giving concerts. He met Franz Liszt who said something like ,,I can close my shop when the boy is performing on stage." At 13 he met the french-polish composer Fre'deric Chopin, who became his teacher and Chopin felt that Filtsch understood him in a way that nobody else did. The romantic composer had a great influence on the teenagers composition style. Unfortuanetly he got an illnes (I think it was tuberculosis) which he hoped to cure with water baths in Venice. After a short period of refreshing, he got sick again and this time no cure prevented him from his death. How cruel that a genius has been taken away so early from us!. I really encourage you to have a listen to his mazurka, impromptus and of course of his l'Adieu which he composed shortly before his death.
