Ernesto Lecuona (1895-1963) is considered one of the most important Cuban composers of the 20th century. He composed hundreds of pieces, and La Comparsa (Carnival Procession) is one of his most popular.
The piece begins softly, as if watching from a distance a carnival procession. The music gets louder and more exciting as the procession gets closer, and then it fades away as the parade moves on.
