Present Continuous Tense
Definition
We use present continuous tense to talk about actions that are in progress at the time of speaking.
The present continuous tense is used:
🌟 for any action that is happening at the moment of speaking.
Examples
1. I am reading a book.
2. They are swimming.
🌟 For a temporary action which may not be happening at the time of speaking.
Examples
1. I am learning to play the piano.
2. She is presently teaching in Delhi.
🌟 for any action that is planned for the near future.
Examples
1. They are leaving for Mumbai next week.
2. He is shifting to Chennai next month.
Structure of a present continuous tense
Subject + is/am/are + First form of verb + ing + Object
Examples
1. I am cutting a rope.
2. He is running in a race.
3. They are laughing.
