Opticks simulation of the Daya Bay Reactor Neutrino Experiment http://dayawane.ihep.ac.cn and the under construction Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO) http://juno.ihep.ac.cn.
The coloured lines shown in the video represent individual photons from scintillation and Cherenkov light, arising from 100 GeV cosmic muons crossing the detectors. The line colour represents initially the material being traversed and then subsequently the polarisation direction of the light.

Opticks https://bitbucket.org/simoncblyth/opt... is an open source software package
that enables particle physics experiments to benefit from optical photon simulation
taking effectively zero time and zero CPU memory, thanks to massive GPU parallelism
made accessible by NVIDIA OptiX.

Opticks works together with the Geant4 simulation toolkit, gaining performance
by moving the geometry and optical photon simulation to the GPU.
