In order to change the user role for a particular person on your WordPress site, what you do is go back into your Dashboard. Go down to users, and you'll see all the users on your site. You're able to do a search in case you have a lot of users that aren't showing on one page. In this case, I only have one other person.

I'm going to click "Edit." Once I'm in this Editing screen for Edit User, I'm going to scroll down. I can see this particular person's role.

Let's say they did some author work for me in the past, but now I want them just to be a normal subscriber. All I'm going to do is check "Subscriber" here in this drop-down box, then come down and click "Update User."

Now this person has the role of subscriber, and they have the associated permissions with subscriber.
