Malayan tapir Baku is growing up fast! He was only about 20 pounds when he was born on April 29, 2014, but now, only two months later, he tips the scales at around 100 pounds and consumes his own solid food diet. He still has his watermelon-like spots, but people can now see his future Oreo cookie-like "black-white-black" coloration slowly beginning to fade in. Zookeepers describe him as very gregarious and independent, as he often prefers to swim or run around on his own rather than continue to follow his mother, Rinny, around the yard.
