Halston spoke with ET many times about his celebrity clients and how he changed the fashion industry. In these rare interviews with the New York City icon, whose real name is Roy Halston Frowick, he recalled career highlights from the ‘70s and ‘80s, designing clothes for Jackie Kennedy and wanting to make fashion ‘a little more simple.’ Liza Minnelli sat down with ET shortly after Halston died of an AIDS-related illness in 1990. She said of her friend of many years, ‘He single-handedly changed American fashion.’ Ewan McGregor was cast to portray the late fashion mogul in Ryan Murphy’s miniseries, ‘Halston,’ which is now streaming on Netflix.
