Today, we show you how to resize / scale a video using ffmpeg. The method we are showing is about absolute resizing, i.e. we are setting the dimensions / figures ourselves.

EXAMPLES
ꟷꟷꟷꟷꟷꟷꟷꟷꟷꟷꟷꟷꟷꟷꟷꟷꟷꟷꟷꟷꟷꟷꟷꟷꟷꟷꟷꟷꟷꟷꟷꟷꟷꟷꟷꟷꟷꟷꟷꟷꟷꟷ
❶ Resizing / scaling down from 1280 x 720 (HD) to 640 x 360:
→ ffmpeg -i input.mp4 -vf scale=640:360 output.mp4

❷ Resizing / scaling up from 1280 x 720 (HD) to 1920 x 1080 (Full HD):
→ ffmpeg -i input.mp4 -vf scale=1920:1080 output.mp4

Note that you will always introduce noise and lose details when scaling up
