In this Two Part Lecture on Ancient Mesopotamia, I will discuss the Background of Ancient Mesopotamia and early civilizations such as the Sumerians [Part 1], and then also discuss the later civilizations such as the Babylonians, Assyrians, and Chaldeans into the Iron Age [Part 2].

In this Part 1 Lecture, here are some basic topics that I will cover in this Lecture on various historical events or famous people associated with this period:

What was Ancient Mesopotamia?  Who were the Sumerians? What was Cuneiform?  What was the Epic of Gilgamesh?  What were some technologies, innovations that the Sumerians were famous for? What were some famous deities of the Sumerians? Who were the Akkadians and Sargon the Great?
