2024 Subaru BRZ Review, Top Trim Coupe With Extra Features
Описание
2024 Subaru BRZ Review.
The Subaru BRZ is a lightweight, two-door performance coupe with rear-wheel drive and a standard manual transmission, and that makes it a bit retro. At a time when expensive EVs and supersized SUVs are more popular than ever, the affordable BRZ is small, agile, and swift. This year Subaru’s motorsports division, Subaru Technica International (STI), increases the BRZ’s performance with the new top tS trim with a track-ready suspension and Brembo brakes. STI is most famous for the rally-inspired Subaru WRX STI model, which is no longer available. You should also know that the BRZ was co-developed with Toyota and is a virtual twin, both visually and mechanically, to the Toyota GR86. In fact, both are powered by a torque-y Subaru engine, a horizontally opposed 2.4-liter four-cylinder producing 228 horsepower. That’s considerably more power than you get in the Mazda MX-5 Miata. The BRZ only weighs about 2,800 pounds. so it’s quick and a blast to drive, especially when equipped with the precise six-speed manual transmission. A responsive six-speed automatic is available on the Limited trim. The BRZ’s handling is also impressive. The suspension is firm, but this sports car is comfortable enough for everyday use. Unfortunately, its back seat is too small for passengers, and should be considered extra storage.
Positives.
Real sports car driving experience. Fun at an affordable price. Cool design inside and out.
Considerations.
Teeny tiny back seat. Light on interior storage.
Verdict.
One of the best performance bargains on the market, the frisky 2024 Subaru BRZ is especially fun to drive when equipped with the standard manual transmission.
What's New for 2024.
This year the Subaru BRZ gets a few choice updates, including a new top tS trim with performance upgrades, including special Hitachi shocks and Brembo brakes with gold four-piston front calipers. Along with tS badging, the new model gets black exterior trim, blue leather seat trim, blue stitching throughout the cabin, and nubuck-like material on the dash and doors. For the first time, Subaru’s EyeSight Driver Assist Technology is standard on every BRZ, including models equipped with a manual transmission.
