Check Engine Code P0013 - Chevy Cobalt Ecotech 2.2L Z22SE LC61

Fixing the 2010 Chevy Cobalt after getting CEL for P0013 check engine code! It turns out this is related to the Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid for the exhaust cam. The check engine code P0011 which triggers your check engine light (CEL) is the same exact issue, but related to the intake cam actuator solenoid. The camshaft position actuators control the variable timing of your camshaft.

Replacing the camshaft position actuator on both the intake and exhaust camshafts is a really easy fix and requires only a 10mm socket and about 5 minutes of your time. Be sure to clean out the area with a vacuum before pulling the actuator. It is easy to drop dirt and debris into the cylinder slot which could get in to your engine.

P0011 and P00112 is for when intake cam position solenoid is out of position. And P0013 and P0014 is when the exhaust cam position solenoid is out of range. Both can also be triggered if your oil is low and there isn't enough for them to operate correctly.
