The 2001 Daytona is one of the most thrilling races in NASCAR history. Many remember it for the headlines the next day.

Michael Waltrip entered the 2001 NASCAR season as a driver with 462 career starts and 0 career wins. The most starts without a win for any driver in NASCAR history. In the 2000 offseason, his good friend, Dale Earnhardt would sign him to his new team. This is the story of Michaels first win.

This video tells the story of how brothers Darrell and Michael Waltrip are both intertwined in one of the biggest Nascar races to ever occur. Young Dale Junior helps play a pivitol role in Michael Waltrips first victory.

Unfortunuately, many people will remember this as the race that Dale Earnhardt crashed and passed away in.

I want to remember this as a good race. And I think Dale would be ok with that.

This video is admittedly a little rough around the edges. I know there' s couple small mistakes (Ken Schrader is in the 36, not the 38 car, etc). Leaving this video up because I'm still incredibly proud of it, and I want to leave it as is.

This was uploaded on February 18th, and I take great pride in that.
