Biography of Ibn Arabi really needs to be known as the first approach to understanding the total of the constellation of his mystical thoughts. Ibn Arabi’s masterpiece was none other than his life full of the spiritual and intellectual journey. In this video, first of all, I prepare myself to present biography of Ibn Arabi before taking a further step to present the complexity of his thought in the body of Sufism.

History of Sufism and Sufism (tasawwuf) itself cannot at all neglect the fundamental role of Shaykh al-Akbar Muhyiddin Ibn Arabi. As the initiator of the mystical philosophy “wahdat al-wujud” (the unity of being), in spite of the term literally not coming from Ibn Arabi, he is considered an extremely influential Sufi to the later Sufis and Muslim philosophers both in the history of Islamic philosophy and the history of Sufism.
