Christianity in the Western world and beyond has suffered from deficient doctrines of creation that have obsessed over the question of origins and evolution. These lectures, delivered by Dr. Willie Jennings, suggest a different orientation for Christian belief in creation, one that returns us to the earth and turns our attention toward the redemption of our creative powers.

Willie Jennings serves as associate professor of systematic theology and Africana studies at Yale Divinity School. His award-winning book The Christian Imagination: Theology and the Origins of Race (2010) was called “a theological masterpiece” by the Englewood Review of Books. Writing in the areas of liberation theologies, cultural identities, and anthropology, Dr. Jennings is also the author of After Whiteness: An Education in Belonging (2020), as well as more than 40 scholarly essays and nearly two dozen reviews. He is an ordained Baptist minister and has served as interim pastor for several North Carolina churches. He is in high demand as a speaker and widely recognized as a major figure in theological education across North America. A Calvin College graduate, Jennings received his MDiv from Fuller Theological Seminary and his PhD in religion and ethics from Duke Divinity School.
