This week we try Bowmore 12 year Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky, although we planned to stay in the Lowlands this week, the local whisky selection had other plans... So off we go to Islay with plans to return to the Lowlands before we end our tour. According to their website, https://www.bowmore.com/whisky/12-year-old, the Bowmore 12 Year Old s both complex and perfectly balanced. They describe the nose as "Subtle lemon and honey, balanced beautifully by Bowmore's trademark peaty smokiness", the palate as, "Warm and delicious with subtle dark chocolate flavours", and as having a "Trademark gentle peat smoke, leading to a delicious, long and mellow finish."

In addition to the tasting and our virtual visit, we learned a bit about Islay and the adventurous island that it is.

Although we both thought we didn't like peaty scotch, we must have been led astray in the past. We both said we would buy it again and think it is a great peaty addition to any collection.
