You might be shocked when you see the new Opel Insignia. Although sales of family hatchback and touring sedan models have fallen rapidly due to the onslaught of SUVs, Opel is taking a new approach it says could revive interest in the Insignia.


Opel is not the only one thinking of a radical solution to replace its family hatchback. Rumor has it that Ford is thinking the same way about replacing its Mondeo, which has suffered a similar decline to the Insignia in recent years. Sales of the Insignia across Europe fell by around a third from a year earlier in 2019, with the category as a whole down nearly 20%.
