Follow these steps to remove and replace the M.2 solid state drive for the HP ENVY 17-cg0000 Laptop PC:
- Before you begin: Remove the base enclosure and battery.
- For removal, remove the P1 Phillips-head screw that secures the M.2 solid state drive and the protective metal shield to the system board.
- Carefully unclip and lift up the metal shield above the M.2 solid state drive and remove.
- Grasp the M.2 solid state drive by the edges and pull gently to remove it.
- For replacement, align the notch on the M.2 solid state drive with the key in the M.2 solid state drive slot.
- Gently insert the M.2 solid state drive into its slot.
- Replace the metal shield over the M.2 solid state drive module by pressing it into its clips on the system board.
- Replace the P1 Phillips-head screw that secures the M.2 solid state drive and the metal shield to the system board.
