Birnam Build-Off | The Tunnocks Ski Cake

Welcome back to the Birnam Build Off series where I will make strange and outlandish skis. This time its the 'Tunnocks Skis Cake'.

Finbar is headed to Tignes, France for the season and needed a piece of Scotland to take with him. There was only one thing to do. Eat 26 Tunnocks Tea Cakes and glue the iconic foil into the interior of his Aisling skis. We chose a clear ptex base to show off the shiny Tea Cake wrapper. The rest of the ski construction was the usual Freeride construction employing the full hardwood core (beech and poplar), VDS over edges and carbon/glass reinforcements. The ski measures in at 181cm and weights 1.75kg. Finbar will use a CAST touring system in conjunction with the trusted Look Pivot binding, which is a favourite of ours for feel, flex and stability on the skis. We are very much looking forward to aerial photos taken from below with the Ski Cake against the sky.
