It’s taken a while to get this edited and uploaded but I guess I can claim it as a case of “better late than never”. There have been a couple of videos showing me adjusting the transducer that were uploaded before this one, but they are all available in the Raymarine Axiom Install and Tweaking playlist.

I did a lot of research on what I wanted from an MFD in this boat. I looked at all the models that were available from the various manufacturers and the feature sets each had. I had to rule out a couple of extremely good units just on the basis of cost, most notably one from Furuno. In the finish, I concluded that the Raymarine Axiom Pro offered me the best bang for buck.

Now there is nothing wrong with the Raymarine Axiom (non-Pro model) and with a keypad accessory, it offers the same functionality at less cost. What was missing were the extra network ports that come with the Axiom Pro and the front-loading SD cards (the standard model has them in the back of the unit). I wanted the extra network connections for future expansion and the front-loading SD card slots for convenience. If not for that I could have saved on a standard Axiom and Keypad combination, but it would have cost slightly more to expand it later.

I have used it enough now to really appreciate what a good unit it is, and I will post some videos of it in use once I have a bit more experience adjusting it.
