Pixlr is a great free alternative to Adobe LightRoom but not as powerful, Adobe has spent years developing the application like Photoshop which are way more powerful but do cost money and take time to learn. Depending on your task you can use Pixlr for basic photo manipulation but Photoshop will always be king for graphic design and photo editing ?

Remember that your goal is the get the right results so simply use what software which best delivers your requirements.

I use a range of image applications like Pixlr and Gimp but have also invested in Adobe CC as I like to learn lots of different skills.
